About Queer Bar Takeover:
Queer Bar Takeover is a dynamic and inclusive social enterprise based in Kansas City, MO. Our mission is to provide safe, welcoming, and vibrant spaces where the LGBTQ+ community and allies can come together to celebrate diversity, inclusion, and acceptance. We achieve this through a series of 12 events annually, each held at a different straight bar in the city.
Job Description:
As the Events Coordinator for Queer Bar Takeover, you'll play a pivotal role in planning, coordinating, and executing our monthly events. Your work will contribute to creating memorable experiences for our attendees and fostering an inclusive community atmosphere. Here's what you'll be responsible for:
Event Planning and Execution:
Collaborate with our leadership team to plan and execute 12 events per year at various straight bars in Kansas City.
Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, scheduling, and contracts with host bars.
Develop and manage event budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness and financial sustainability.
Promotion and Outreach:
Create and execute marketing and promotional strategies to attract a diverse audience to each event.
Collaborate with our marketing team to create event materials, social media content, and advertising campaigns.
Forge partnerships with local LGBTQ+ organizations, businesses, and influencers to increase event visibility.
Vendor and Entertainment Coordination:
Secure and manage contracts with DJs, performers, and vendors as needed for each event.
Oversee the setup and teardown of event spaces to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
Coordinate with performers and entertainers to meet their needs.
Guest Experience and Safety:
Ensure that all attendees feel welcome, safe, and respected at our events.
Implement safety measures, including security if necessary, and address any incidents or concerns.
Collect feedback from attendees to continually improve the event experience.
Staff Management:
Recruit and manage a team of staffers to assist with event setup, registration, and other tasks.
Provide training and guidance to volunteers to ensure efficient event operations.
Qualifications:
Previous event planning experience is highly preferred.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Familiarity with LGBTQ+ culture and issues.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.

Schedule: Weekends as needed
Location: Kansas City, MO (Reliable commute or planning to relocate before starting work required)
