Should Q Kansas City Go Cashless? We Want Your Feedback!

Updated: 6 days ago

Hello, Q Kansas City family!

As we prepare to open our doors and welcome you into this exciting new space, we want to ensure that every decision we make aligns with our mission of fostering community, connection, and inclusivity. That’s why we’re turning to you, our incredible patrons, to help us shape an important decision: should Q Kansas City operate as a cashless bar?

Why Consider Going Cashless?

A cashless model could bring several benefits to our employees, patrons, and the overall experience at Q Kansas City. Here are some of the reasons we’re considering this approach:

Safety First

Operating cash-free reduces the risk of theft or loss, ensuring a safer environment for both our staff and our guests.

Speed and Convenience

Digital transactions are often faster than cash, which means shorter wait times for your drinks and more time to enjoy the dance floor, connect with friends, and celebrate community.

Cleaner and More Hygienic

Let’s be real: cash can carry germs. By going cashless, we can create a more hygienic space for everyone.

Streamlined Operations at Q Kansas City

A cashless system allows us to track sales more effectively, reduce errors, and focus on what really matters—creating an unforgettable experience for you.

The Flip Side

We also recognize that going cashless could present challenges:

  • Some of our patrons may prefer or only have access to cash.

  • Technical issues with payment systems could cause delays.

  • We want to ensure our employees continue to feel supported, especially when it comes to tipping.

Why Your Opinion Matters

Q Kansas City isn’t just a bar—it’s a community-driven space built to empower, celebrate, and connect. Your voice is essential to every decision we make. If we’re truly going to be a "third place" for the LGBTQ+ community, your feedback must guide us as we explore new ways to serve you better.

Share Your Thoughts

What do you think? Would a cashless model enhance your experience, or do you see potential challenges we should address? Let us know your thoughts by commenting below, or send us a message.

We’ll gather your feedback over the next two weeks and share an update on our decision. Thank you for being part of this journey and helping us make Q Kansas City a place where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

With gratitude,

The Q Kansas City Team

Please keep cash. Performers earn fewer cash tips when folks don't need cash on them to buy drinks or pay cover.

As a consumer, I like the option of paying with cash or card. As a small business owner, I wish everyone paid cash. The card processing fees add up fast.

Please also have cash. I like to throw my dollars in the air and make it rain. It’s a little different with plastic.

Yes! I think in this day and age, cashless is fine.
