At Q Kansas City, every detail matters—from the dance floor to the decor—and the signage is no exception. We’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on Jeremy Reeder, the talented professional from Midwest Sign Company who brought the Q Kansas City logo to life, both outside the building and behind our front desk.

Fifteen Years of Craftsmanship

Jeremy has been with Midwest Sign Company for an impressive fifteen years. He joined the industry straight out of high school, drawn by the opportunity to work outdoors, use his hands, and embrace the challenge of new environments. “It’s the variety that keeps it interesting,” Jeremy shared, reflecting on what he loves most about his job.

First Impressions Matter

When Jeremy first saw the Q Kansas City sign design, he thought it was simple—just one logo, one "Q." But as he learned about the plans for the lighting effects, he realized how much the design would stand out. “The lighting makes it pop and makes it unique. There’s not another sign in the area that can do what the Q sign does. It’s going to immediately draw your eye,” he explained. Jeremy also emphasized the value of quality over quantity, noting how the clean, focused design perfectly balances impact and simplicity.

Overcoming Challenges with Creativity

One of the most challenging parts of the project was creating the illusion that the Q behind the reception desk is floating in front of the curtain. To achieve this, Jeremy and his team designed standoffs that disappear into the curtain, giving the sign a sleek, seamless look. “We wanted it to look like the Q was just floating there,” Jeremy said. The result? A stunning centerpiece that captures the club’s elevated and innovative aesthetic.

Personal Connection to the LGBTQ+ Community

As a gay man, this project held a special significance for Jeremy. “When I heard there was going to be a new bar in Westport for the LGBTQ+ community, I was really excited,” he said. “When you reached out, I was thrilled to help make your vision happen. It’s great knowing I’m working on something that’s not only professionally rewarding but also personally meaningful. Being able to be myself and work in a space that’s friendly to me as a human being is an awesome feeling.”

A Legacy in Kansas City

For Jeremy, seeing the finished product is deeply satisfying. “Every time I come down here, I’ll be able to tell friends and family, ‘Look up there, did you see that Q? I did that.’” Adding Q Kansas City to his portfolio of signage around the city is a proud moment—one he considers a highlight of his career.

We’re grateful to Jeremy for his incredible work and are honored to have a piece of his craftsmanship as part of Q Kansas City’s identity. Next time you visit, take a moment to admire the artistry and passion behind the signs—and know that they were created with love and pride for the community.
